ECPAT - Belgium

ECPAT, End Child Prostitution in Asian Tourism, is a network of organizations and individuals working together for the elimination of child prostitution, child pornography and the trafficking of children for sexual purposes. The 10 July 1991 order of the Government of French Community institutes the dŽlŽguŽ gŽnŽral aux droits de l'enfant et ˆ l'aide ˆ la jeunesse (DGDE)(general delegate for children's rights and youth aid). His general task is to ensure the respect of children and the rights and interests of young people, by informing people, controlling, formulating and receiving information. His powers of interpellation and investigation allow him to directly head his own investigation.

Institut Belge des Postes et Télécommunications (IBPT)

Minister di Rupo suggests that the IBPT (Belgian Institute of Posts and Telecommunications) should be recognized as the co-ordination and decision centre in the matter of unlawful information found on the Internet. This suggestion is still under consideration.

Ecoute-Enfants

Ecoute Enfants is a service which answers by phone the questions of children, adolescents and every person wondering and worrying about himself or possibly someone else. Set up by the Province of Namur, it is currently organized by the administration of the Aide ˆ la Jeunesse and of the Provinces of Namur and Luxembourg. The team, composed of professionals in relations, is at the public's disposal from Monday to Friday, 8.30 to 22.00, to listen, hear, help the caller in his/her reflection and/or difficulty. Anonymity is totally respected: indeed, it is completely impossible to determine the origin of calls.

Office de la Naissance et de l'Enfance (ONE)

Among other actions, the ONE (Birth and Childhood Organization) set up the Action Enfance MaltraitŽe (AEM)(Abused Childhood Action) instituted by the Order of 29.04.1985. This order provides for multidisciplinary teams (Equipes SOS Enfants) and a ComitŽ d'Accompagnement de l'Action Enfance MaltraitŽe (CAEM)(Committee of Support to the Abused Childhood Action). One task of the team consists in looking after people at risk.

Opération Marie-France Botte

Marie-France Botte has worked in South-East Asia since 1986 and fights against

the use of children for sexual purposes in this region of the world but also in Europe. In Belgium, a close co-operation between the General Delegate for children's rights and her team makes for the possibility of joint actions.

Save the Children (Norway)

The association Save the Children fights, among other things, against the expansion of paedophilia on the Internet. Like the points of contact and reporting, the Norwegian site allows acts of paedophilia committed on the Internet to be reported.
