Description

Cellule Interfacultaire de Technology Assessment, is a university research centre specialised in the assessment of new technologies and more specially, of information and communication technologies (ICT).

This centre has been created in 1988 by four departments of the University of Namur.

CITA research is financed by the federal office for scientific, technical and cultural affairs (OSTC) in the framework of the PAI-IUAP IV programme and the Telecommunications programme, by the Walloon Region (DGRNE, DGTRE), by the Federal Department of Internal Affairs and by the European Commission.

Research

CITA research concerns 5 main axis:

• Technology Assessment in general
• Uses analysis in a social shaping perspective
• Organisational analysis: faisibility study, impact study
• Technology policy: innovation policy, information society policy
• Ethics of computing: ethic codes, uses self-regulation; child pornography on the Internet
